Volunteer with us
Join the Sustainable Neighbourhoods team!
Get involved in a local project, meet your neighbours and learn new skills.

Volunteers are an invaluable part of our community and vital to creating a sustainable city.
Join our friendly team of more than 270 volunteers. We always welcome new volunteers to help make our neighbourhoods more sustainable.
Meet new people who share your passion for sustainability, gain some work experience and share your knowledge.
We offer a range of roles to suit your availability and interests. You can help irregularly, for example:
  • helping to set up at a workshop,
  • participating in working bees,
  • letterbox drops,
  • fundraising barbeques,
  • clean up events,
  • providing morning tea and more.
We also welcome volunteers who can make a more regular commitment, for example:
  • leading a local or citywide project,
  • organising workshops and other events,
  • helping your local group to run effectively (minute-taking, organising venues, group management),
  • promoting your group through newsletters,
  • managing a local Facebook page and more.

The Lake Macquarie Sustainable Neighbourhood Alliance is registered as a not for profit incorporated association under NSW Fair Trading. Sustainable Neighbourhood activities are managed and governed by volunteers and financed through grants, collaboration and community fundraising.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters on which we live, work and play, the Awabakal People, and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in this area. We pay our respect to Elders past and present, and future cultural knowledge holders.
