Growing sustainability in the Sugar Valley area
Join with community members from Barnsley, Cameron Park, Holmesville, Killingworth, Seahampton, Wakefield and West Wallsend.
The West Wallsend District Sustainable Neighbourhood Group have been working with the Sustainable Neighbourhood Alliance and Council to renew the group and embrace neighbours from Cameron Park and Wakefield areas to establish the Sugar Valley Sustainable Neighbourhood Group.
For convenience, we have been using the name ‘Sugar Valley’ for the new Sustainable Neighbourhood group locality. As we progress, we’ll liaise with participants to either confirm the suitability of this name or decide on an alternative.
Upcoming group meetings
Join the Sugar Valley Sustainable Neighbourhood Group and help organise and deliver projects you want to see happen in your neighbourhood. Be part of a great team of neighbours who are enthusiastic about creating a more sustainable Sugar Valley.
Pop the date in your diary. We look forward to seeing you there. |
Please email [email protected] to rsvp for the meeting. We’ll send out an agenda before the meeting, and let you know if there’s any change in details.
Drop in and chat with us
We are keen to chat with community members from Cameron Park, Barnsley, Holmesville, Killingworth, Seahampton, Wakefield and West Wallsend about what’s important in your community and projects you’re interested in. Drop in to chat with us and find out more about Sustainable Neighbourhoods. Saturday 15 October, 8-11am Cameron Park Plaza |
Draft Action Plan
It’s been great to hear from Sugar Valley locals about your vision, values and priorities so far. We’ve used the survey results and direct feedback so far to start developing the Sugar Valley Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP). The SNAP aims to guide your Sustainable Neighbourhood Group’s actions, and help foster consistency and clarity about what you are working towards. Download the draft SNAP below, which includes project ideas and preference votes from the Crop Swap event. Please let us know if you have any ideas you’d like included or comments / suggestions about the wording, or come along to the next meeting to get involved.

Community survey results
In April 2022 we surveyed residents to understand local attitudes about the environment, community priorities and possible neighbourhood projects. More than 240 community members completed the survey. You can download the survey results here. We will use the survey results to inform the development of a Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan for the Sugar Valley area. |
