I am Torokararing (Awabakal for Palm Tree)[1]
Canary Island Date Palm Phoenix canariensis I am a palm tree with a single trunk up to 1m wide and grow up to 15-20m. [2]
I was planted on this site around 1970 after the Braye era, but before the Geraghty era. My leaves are spreading and pointed. My flowers are a yellow–cream and form in clusters in spring. My yellow-red fruit ripen in autumn. I am a native to the Canary Islands and was introduced to Australia around 1877 by the Royal Society of Tasmania.

I am found in the Australian Capital Territory [2], Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and New South Wales. [3]
I have naturalised in many parts of New South Wales, including parks, roadside plantings and even along the Murrumbidgee River in Wagga Wagga.[4]
