Inventory of Local Stormwater Drains in Dora Creek
How did we do it?
The group identified that in some cases, flooding has been accentuated by poorly designed and maintained stormwater drains.
The group undertook an inventory of local stormwater drains, by visually surveying and noting any problem drains, and taking photos.
Some coordinators also door-knocked with neighbours and asked them about their experiences.

What did we achieve?
The group identified five problem drainage sites, which were recorded and submitted to Council. This resulted in:
- Three of the five drains being actioned within weeks of submission
- One drain scheduled for more significant works
- One drain undergoing a propsoal for significant on-ground works to develop a wetland
- Development of a Landcare Group to care for the wetland
- Dora Creek Public School developing a Waterwatch Group to monitor water quality at the proposed wetland site.
- Development of a process tfor the identification of problem stormwater drains
