Old Waste, New Art Competition

Our Old Waste, New Art competition (OWNA) is an initiative designed to raise awareness of the usefulness of old, secondhand, broken or discarded items. As the saying goes, "One person's trash is another's treasure"

Held in conjunction with the Holmesville Billy Cart Derby, the competition is free. The competition is divided into sections and age groups. You may enter as an individual or as a group. There is no restriction on the number of entries you may present and you may enter across different categories.

Entries will be judged by professional artists in these categories with the following prizes:
  • Primary School - $25
  • High School - $50
  • Open - $75

People's Choice Award!
In addition, there will be a “People’s Choice” award of $50.
Voting will be carried out on the day and will incur a 50 cent fee per vote, with all proceeds being donated to “Mum’s Cottage”.

Get your entry in and round up your supporters to come along:

Sustainable Neighbourhoods Lake Macquarie
Our vision - Neighbourhoods that are empowered to live sustainably.
Our mission - Our work is to foster sustainable neighbourhoods and a healthy environment in Lake Macquarie
Our values - We are guided by our values of participation, inclusion, collaboration, empowerment and shared responsibility.
The Lake Macquarie Sustainable Neighbourhood Alliance is registered as a not for profit incorporated association under NSW Fair Trading. Sustainable Neighbourhood activities are managed and governed by volunteers and financed through grants, collaboration and community fundraising.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters on which we live, work and play, the Awabakal People, and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in this area. We pay our respect to Elders past and present, and future cultural knowledge holders.
