You're invited to join your neighbours for our upcoming group meetings
We had a lovely afternoon at our first gathering at Belmont Library on 3 September.

It was a pleasure to meet locals from the Belmont area and chat about Sustainable Neighbourhoods and your vision, values and project ideas.

We look forward to seeing you again, or meeting you for the first time.

Join the Belmont Area Sustainable Neighbourhood Group and help organise and deliver projects you want to see happen in your neighbourhood. Be part of a great team of neighbours who are enthusiastic about creating a more sustainable Belmont area.

Upcoming meeting dates:
  • Tuesday 15 November, 6pm
Belmont Senior Citizens Centre, 7 Glover Street

Pop the dates in your diary. We look forward to seeing you there!

Join us for our September meeting where we will focus on getting to know each other, and developing a Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan.

Please email [email protected] to rsvp for the meeting. We’ll send out an agenda before the meeting, and let you know if there’s any change in details.

Draft Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan

It's been great to hear from Belmont area locals about your vision, values and priorities.

We’ve used the survey results and workshop feedback so far to start developing the Belmont Area Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP). The SNAP aims to guide your group’s actions, and help foster consistency and clarity about what you are working towards.

Download the draft SNAP here, which includes project ideas and preferences from the recent workshop.

Please let us know if you have any ideas you’d like included or comments / suggestions about the wording. Or come along to the next meeting to get involved.

In April 2022 we surveyed residents to understand local attitudes about the environment, community priorities and possible neighbourhood projects. More than 490 community members completed the survey.
You can download the survey results here.

We will use the survey results to inform the development of a Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan for the Belmont Area.

Sustainable Neighbourhoods Lake Macquarie
Our vision - Neighbourhoods that are empowered to live sustainably.
Our mission - Our work is to foster sustainable neighbourhoods and a healthy environment in Lake Macquarie
Our values - We are guided by our values of participation, inclusion, collaboration, empowerment and shared responsibility.
The Lake Macquarie Sustainable Neighbourhood Alliance is registered as a not for profit incorporated association under NSW Fair Trading. Sustainable Neighbourhood activities are managed and governed by volunteers and financed through grants, collaboration and community fundraising.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters on which we live, work and play, the Awabakal People, and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in this area. We pay our respect to Elders past and present, and future cultural knowledge holders.
