Challenge the way we look at waste!

Sustainable Neighbourhoods is challenging the way we look at waste with the 2019 Waste to Art exhibition.

Waste and plastic pollution has an enormous impact on the local and global environment.
The Waste to Art exhibition confronts us all to consider how we might be contributing to the problem, and what we can do to move to a more sustainable future.
The Waste to Art project presents a reminder to practice the ‘5 Rs’ of waste minimisation, Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, and Recycle.

A bit about us and our plan

In March 2014, the Swansea and Swansea Heads Sustainable Neighbourhood Groups joined forces and expanded into Caves Beach to form the Caves Beach - Swansea Area Sustainable Neighbourhood Group.

Since then we have been engaging with our neighbours and have created a Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan.  Click on the image here to download a copy.

Some of our project ideas include:
  • Holding regular litter clean ups and working with Council to prevent illegal dumping
  • Supporting local Landcare groups, and educating our community about our natural environment
  • Helping local schools create community gardens
  • Organising community events and celebrations
  • Helping our community be prepared for natural disasters
